Model Schools - the Community's Vision
Project Zawadi's Model Schools program is working together with the rural village communities of Busore and Sarawe on improvements for their primary schools.
Immediate capital improvements needed at these schools include:
- Housing construction for four teachers and their families
- Classroom construction serving 100+ students
- Safety refurbishments to 14 existing classrooms
- Classroom supplies including 117 desks and 17 blackboards
These capital needs are just one aspect of the community's vision of a Model School serving their students. Each community has gone through an extensive visioning and strategic planning process in collaboration with Project Zawadi. The result is a strategic plan designed to make improvements in school infrastructure, address needs for instructional materials, and to provide additional opportunities and support to teachers, students, and families through professional development, academic and career counseling, life skills training, and extracurriculars.
Since each Model School reflects the particular circumstances and character of their community, each Model Schools strategic plan is also unique. Project Zawadi and the community each bring unique skills, knowledge, and resources together to help make this vision a reality.
