The next chapter is already underway.

This year, in nearby Bunda, we began working with 13 new primary schools reaching 149 teachers and 9,356 students. School leaders have developed their own plans for improvement. Teachers are receiving training and coaching through the Tenda program. Schools are developing farms and other strategies to help ensure children receive a meal during the school day. And we are strengthening the systems that support students, teachers and school communities for the long term.

This is some of the most ambitious work Project Zawadi has ever undertaken–and why this year's annual appeal matters so much.

During November and December, we need to raise at least $250,000 to fund Project Zawadi's work in the year ahead. These gifts are essential to supporting the programs and people doing the work every day. You can help Eliminata expand our school meals and agriculture initiatives, Theresia strengthen our girls’ safety program, and Nehemiah equip teachers through the Tenda Teachers program—just to name a few.

Twenty-five years ago, none of us could have imagined how much Project Zawadi would grow and how much impact we would have. We have learned that extraordinary things can happen when students are given opportunities, teachers are supported, and local leaders are trusted to lead.
