For 25 years we have seen extraordinary journeys made possible when a child is given the chance to learn.

Because of your generosity and commitment, what began as support for a handful of students has grown into a movement that is transforming the student experience in Tanzania. Our partner schools have become safer, more vibrant places to learn — where students enjoy school meals, explore with curiosity, and gain the confidence to dream bigger.

One shining example is Msafiri, who first joined Project Zawadi as a young student. He went on to earn a degree in education, teach in our English Bridge Program, and work with us as a translator — always giving back to the community that raised him. Now married with two children, he represents the full circle of what your generosity makes possible: a student who became a teacher, a parent, and a leader for the next generation. His journey reflects the heart of what we strive to do every day: Uplift Students. Inspire Leaders.

This upcoming milestone will be a time to honor all that has been accomplished and to look ahead together. We are preparing to launch a bold 10-year plan that will expand the number of schools we serve, deepen the ways we support students and communities, and grow our national impact through the Tenda Teachers Program.

Your gift will uplift students and inspire leaders — just as it did for Msafiri — and help us accomplish the following priorities:

  • Expand into 13 new schools with leadership development, teacher training, and school meal programs that improve student well-being and academic outcomes.
  • Grow the Tenda Teachers program nationally, including new training videos, model lesson plans, and early development of an AI-powered planning tool to support teachers in classrooms across Tanzania.
  • Strengthen girls’ safety and empowerment initiatives, helping schools and communities prevent abuse and respond effectively when it occurs.
  • Continue support for individual students in our Student Support Program and Merit Scholarship Fund, ensuring promising youth can continue their education.
Note: $240/year (or $20/month for recurring donors) supports one (1) student in our Student Support program for a year. As students advance through their education into the secondary, tertiary or vocational levels, Project Zawadi ensures that the resources needed to attend school are properly met.
